Barton, VT to Host the World's Largest Cadillac Parade

A small northern Vermont town has some big plans. On August 17th, they will host a world record sized parade of Cadillacs and they need just 103 Cadillacs to make the history books. Below, you can find all the information you need to participate.

Barton, Vermont is home to Henry M. Leland, the inventor of the Cadillac and developer of the V8 engine. On August 17th, 2011, The Orleans County Fair Association will be hosting the world’s largest Cadillac parade in honor of him and in hopes of breaking a Guinness World Record.

Henry M. Leland founded the Cadillac Motor Company in 1902. His initial philosophy was to build a car whose parts were 100 percent interchangeable. Leland’s wisdom and precise work was demonstrated in 1908 when Cadillac won the coveted Dewar trophy for interchangeability of manufactured parts in Brooklands, England after members of the Britain Royal Automobile Club picked three new Cadillac’s at random, dismantled and shuffled the parts before reassembling them. All three cars then ran the 500-mile Brooklands course without any issues.

From the electric clippers to the Cadillac automobile, Leland made many significant contributions to American society, and bringing this record to his hometown of Barton, Vermont would be a great honor in his name.

The record for the largest Cadillac parade is currently held in the Netherlands and to break this Guinness world record were looking for the participation of at least 103 Cadillac cars of any year or model!

Please come out with your Cadillac’s and join us in honoring Henry M. Leland’s legacy by bringing the largest Cadillac Parade World Record home to the United States!

Parade Date: Wednesday, August 17th.

Start Location: Lake Region Union High School Parking lot, Lake Region Road, off VT Rt 5.

Check-in Time: Beginning at 7:30am through 11:30am.

Parade Start Time: About 11:45am to arrive at fairgrounds about 12:00.

My wife and I will be attending this Cadillac parade. I think it's amazing that the man who invented Cadillac is actually from Barton, VT. I have Drawn a picture of Henry M.Leland in honor of him with on of the first cadilacs built. I'll be selling duplicates for $10 each. 25% will be going towards charity. Hope every one has a safe and great time at the Barton Fair...
